EMPLOYMENT SERVICES for Adults

For many people, working at a job is a meaningful part of their life. Learning a new skill, earning a paycheck, and interacting with coworkers, can help people develop confidence in themselves and their strengths.

WHAT IS SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT?

Research has found that work can lead to recovery for people with mental illnesses. Through Individual Placement and Support and its core principles, clients of Riveon receive employment and/or education services tailored to their needs and preferences. Employment Specialists are available to assist in exploring options and resources to increase your success in obtaining and retaining competitive jobs in the community.

CORE PRINCIPLES OF SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT

Individual Placement and Support has 8 guiding principles:
Competitive jobs in the community inspire self-esteem and enable clients to work side-by-side with people who may or may not be experiencing mental illnesses.
Clients who want to work, receive help regardless of their present circumstances.
Employment Specialists work closely with case managers, counselors, prescribers, and other professionals who are part of your mental health treatment team.
Services are based on client preferences, interests, and choices.
Employment Specialists can assist clients in obtaining personalized information to understand the impact of earnings on various benefit programs including Social Security, Medicaid, SNAP, and many others before deciding to pursue employment or while employed.
Job search and/or education activities begin promptly.
Employment Specialists build relationships with employers in the community to learn about their business needs and hiring preferences.
Once a client is employed, follow along supports are available based on the client’s needs and interest for these services.

GET STARTED

Let your case manager, counselor, and/or prescriber know that you are interested in working.
